Volunteers

Always Recruiting Volunteers

Spotsylvania County Little League  is an all-volunteer league and can only be a success with your help!  SCLL depends upon countless volunteers for everything from managing and coaching to umpiring to concessions, field maintenance, fundraising, etc.

Volunteer Applications
To become a SCLL volunteer, you will need to register for an account on this website and complete the volunteer questionnaire for the position you are requesting and submit a copy of your Driver's license with the application.  Note: If your spouse already has an account under their name, have them login and add an additional account holder to their account.  To do this, click the settings icon (looks like a gear) in the upper right after logging in.  There will be an "Add Additional Account Holder" link at the bottom of that page.  This will ensure your accounts and children are linked.

Beginning in 2018, Little League International made available an online background check system through their partner company J.D. Palatine (JDP).  Prior to the start of the season, SCLL will submit your contact information to JDP and you will receive an email containing a customized link in order to complete the background check.   Please be patient as the link will not be sent until your email address is manually entered into the background check system.

Managers and Coaches
Managing is one of the most integral parts of any Little League Program. Managers lead players in teaching and nurturing the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of each player. Leading a team collectively, setting the example in anything from uniform appearance, behavior, work ethic, and how everyone – together – conducts and carries themselves both on and off the field.

Beyond the direct responsibilities of working with their team, each manager and coach will maintain contact with the parents of their players and represent the Little League program in recruiting assistance for the various functions within the League, such as fields and grounds, umpires, team parents, etc.

Managing and coaching can be a fun and rewarding experience. Please consider joining the ranks of Manager within the SCLL. No prior experience is needed, training and support are provided by our experienced managers and coaches.

If you would like to manage or coach a team or would like more information about managing or coaching a baseball team, please contact Brian Love, Coaching Coordinator, for more info.

Umpires Needed!
Check out our Umpire page for details on how to receive a refund of your registration fee!  Well-trained and interested umpires are as essential as the players themselves, to ensure a great season! Volunteers are needed for all games during the year for Minors through Seniors.  Equipment and training are provided by the League. Contact our Umpire-in-Chief, Brian Dymon, to find out how you can offer your assistance.

Training sessions are ongoing.  Please check the umpire page to find dates and times.  No experience necessary.

Fields and Grounds
The condition of the playing fields should be of utmost concern to all parents. Our goal is to have fields that are safe, attractive and well kept. We need volunteers to help prepare the fields before games and assist with any other repairs needed.  Please contact James Manning, SCLL President, to learn about our opportunities.

Team Parents, Scorekeepers, and Pitch Counters
Parents from each team serve as the team’s scorekeeper, assist with monitoring pitch counts, and with other duties as needed by the Team Manager.  Please ask your team manager how you can assist this season.  Team Parents, please visit our Team Parent webpage!   For help with score keeping, visit our Scorekeeper Guide.

League Committees and Board of Directors
It takes a lot of volunteers to keep SCLL running every season.  All of our events require a lot of volunteers to ensure they are planned and managed.  Current committee openings for Fundraising & Sponsorship.
