Volunteer Application, Training & Certificate Upload

One place for what’s required, where to take it, and how to get credit.

Step 1 — Submit Your Volunteer Application

  1. Go to spotsyll.org and log in.
  2. On the left, click the bust/person icon (Volunteer tab) → Find Volunteer Roles.
  3. Select View Divisions for the division you’re volunteering with. If your child is enrolled, that division may auto-select. Otherwise, click Show more.
  4. Click View Selected Opportunities at the bottom.
  5. Choose your role. When the card flips, select yourselfContinue.
  6. Complete the application:
    Only attachment needed: front of a valid photo ID.
    Accept all disclaimers and policies.
    Skip training uploads here—you’ll submit certificates later on our league form.
  7. Click Continue to submit.

Step 2 — Certificate Submission

After you have applied, use the button below to complete and submit the required certifications for your role.

✅ Upload each applicable certificate (PDF or image).
✅ Enter the exact completion date shown on each certificate.
✅ Submit once you’ve added everything that applies to your role.

Step 3 — Background Process

Background checks are required for all volunteers who do not have a current one on file for this league year (October 1 – September 30).

Once Step #1 and Step #2 have been completed:

  • Watch your inbox for a JDP (JD Palatine) background-check invitation via email. The invitation expires—please complete it ASAP.
  • Managers/Umpires: your background-check link is issued automatically via email.
  • All other roles: your Team Manager will nominate you via the Coaching Coordinator; after nomination, you’ll receive the JDP email.
🔒 Privacy: The league does not see credit or financial history — only disqualifying criminal history relevant to youth sports safety.

Training Links (for reference)

Concussion Awareness (Required for Managers & Coaches)
  • Open NFHS Concussion in Sports and create/log in to your NFHS account.
  • Complete the course and download the completion certificate (PDF).
  • Note the completion date on your certificate—you’ll enter this when you upload to SCLL.
Abuse Awareness (Required for All Volunteers)
  • Go to Little League University Training: littleleague.org/university/training/.
  • Take the Abuse Awareness course and download the certificate.
  • Record the completion date for your SCLL upload.
Diamond Leader (Encouraged for All Volunteers)
  • Go to Little League University Training: littleleague.org/university/training/.
  • Complete the Diamond Leader course and download the certificate.
  • Note: Diamond Leader is encouraged and, once completed, does not expire.

FAQ & Help

Do I upload training during the volunteer application?

No. Complete the application first. You’ll upload training certificates later using the SCLL form linked above.

I didn’t get my background-check email.

Background checks are sent after your Manager nominates you to the Board (for non-manager/umpire roles). Check with your Manager and the Coaching Coordinator if you haven’t received the JDP email after nomination.
